Style | ASOS Floral Print Dress

I've been lazier than ever with styling this summer. I like to keep it simple generally but some days have been so humid here I don't feel like wearing much more than a loose dress and trainers. I bought this floral number from ASOS a little while ago. I don't usually like to wear much white (as I can be pretty clumsy with food) but I love the print and I do have a bit of thing for long dresses which cover the scars on my leg nicely.

I used my new compact camera (Canon EOS M3) for these shots and I'm still not crazy about the quality and the lighting is so off but I may just have to get over it to take more outfit pictures on the go.

Style | Forever 21 Khaki Jacket

I show very little of my style on my blog but I'm hoping that's about to change. A couple of things have held me back in creating more style posts up until now - very few opportunities to actually shoot outdoors, a lack of space and lighting indoors to take full length shots and I started to scrutinise whether my personal style was actually 'fashionable'. I love blogging but the standard is so high in the blogging community that sometimes I forget that I really shouldn't put so much pressure on something I started for fun.

I've been dressing more casual lately in general and this Forever 21 jacket has been my go-to now it's warmer. I've mostly been wearing it with dainty camis like the one here and converse. I don't like trainers usually but I love a pair of converse sneakers and I've been collecting a few pairs in white as they go with almost everything. I've also finally got over not getting my legs out for two reasons - it has been gorgeously sunny in the UK and I've become almost entirely unbothered about the scarring on my legs which I've kept hidden for the past few years.

I have stretch marks (thanks puberty), dark knees and brown pitted scarring on my lower left leg but I've stopped caring. I'll admit my legs are starting to look more even now and my u-turn on hating my legs is partly due to the fact that I'm wearing tights here. I was sent some (£9)* way back in March but haven't worn them until the last couple of weeks. I'm wearing Ownbrown's lightest shade Amani which are darker than my skintone but as they're sheer you can barely even tell I'm wearing tights in person.

Primark has some tights which work great for medium or tanned skin but before I stumbled upon these for years I used to joke that creating a line of nude tights for darker skin was my billion dollar idea. I love that women like Ownbrown founder Nadine Njoko Peisker are finally taking it upon themselves to create products to solve the lack of diversity on the market currently. These Ownbrown tights are so comfortable, not overly shiny and are the right amount of sheer at 20 denier. I was sent a size large (which is a size bigger than I need according to the size guidelines) but they fit perfectly. You only get one pair in a pack which is a shame as I have a tendency to catch my nails on my tights. These have so far surprisingly survived 2 wears and (hand) washing so I'll be grabbing another pair as a back up.

Style | ASOS Midi Column Dress in Stripe

I've always found navigating the British weather around fashion posts pretty tricky. Whilst I'm excited for Spring, yesterday proved that the British weather remains extremely changeable. Gloriously sunny one minute. Dull drizzly weather the next. This means there's no detail shots here, just a couple of outfit snaps before the rain poured. I'm still hopeful there'll be a few more sunny days to come though!

Despite the rain it's great to see the back of Winter, especially now there's a chance I can actually go out bare-legged. I've always found shorter dresses unflattering on me so I tend to prefer midi dresses now over any other length. I got this midi column dress from ASOS to round off my wardrobe for the Spring/Summer months and it's slotted in perfectly. I bought the tall version but it's also available in petite and regular which is definitely something I love about ASOS' own brand of clothing. This midi can be easily dressed up or down too. Here I wore this striped dress with a pair of heeled sandals (also from ASOS last year) but often I'll keep my look more relaxed and mix this dress with my other  from 2015.

Style | Forever 21 Checked Shirt & Chidora Wool Hat

I haven't put together a style post in so long which is surprising as I had a big cull of my possessions a little while ago and essentially ended up with an almost entirely new winter wardrobe. It really was out with the old and in with the new as I became tired of having stacks of clothes which I never wore. My style has always been simple but it's become more minimal as I've developed a capsule type wardrobe but on a fairly larger scale than your usual 30-something pieces (great inspo ).

Checked shirts, basic denim pieces and chunky winter warmers like this silk-lined wool hat by * are now staple items in my wardrobe for this season. I've been sticking to only buying items in the colours I'm most comfortable in too like black, navy, dark green, deep purple and grey. Overhauling my style has made pulling together an outfit so much easier, though I still have days where I feel like I have nothing to wear!

Whilst it's been pretty mild for a British November currently I know I'll be relying on my woollen items a lot more in a bid to stay warm this winter. However, anyone with naturally dry hair like me knows how parched our strands can feel from wearing wool hats everyday. As this  (£55) is silk-lined you can keep your head warm and your hair is protected from the outer wool material. This is the second hat which has been sent to me by Chidora and it's so well made with quality materials. My first hat is in perfect condition after 2 years, so if you're looking for cosy head gear which lasts and is gentle on your tresses, check out the company website.

Style | Forever 21 Blazer & Missguided Playsuit

It's rare that I actually spend time exploring Manchester, which is a shame as I don't live too far from the centre. Recently a really good friend of mine left Manchester to return to her home in Australia. In her short 2 years staying in Manchester she has seen far more than I have my twenty-something years of living here. There's so much to do and I want to make more time to see Manchester. In that same vein, me and my other half did the tourist-y thing and visited , an 87-storey skyscraper in Southwark recently. The views are gorgeous and it was good to gaze at the sights I don't see enough of.

I didn't plan to make a blog post out of my visit, so this is an impromptu outfit post. I've been wearing this Forever 21 Boyfriend Blazer a lot recently as it's so comfy and the playsuit is a Missguided favourite I haven't worn since November. It's a little short on me, but I love the floral detail and white collar so I'm going to make a point of wearing it a lot more this summer.

Style | New Look Sleeveless High Neck Midi Dress

I've wanted a high neck dress for a while so I finally caved and bought one a few weeks back in the New Look sale (I couldn't not at just £8). I've paired it with a few of the usual suspects here - this houndstooth scarf and floppy hat have seen so much wear lately. I also wore this slouchy camel blazer from Forever 21 which had previously been forgotten under a pile of woollen Winter coats. It's still cold in the UK currently but I've been mixing my Winter and Spring items together in an attempt to be practical and fashionable. Needless to say I can't wait for the warmth of Summer, especially as my arms and legs haven't seen much daylight in the past year!

Whilst we're on the subject of my legs, I got a cluster of insect bites on the lower part of my left leg last summer which became infected leaving various nasty dark pits and scarring. My skin has always been prone to hyper pigmentation and scarring, but I've never had it this severe. I can also usually fade my scars with a little regular exfoliation (which is minimal effort on my part). This scarring however hasn't budged at all and I think the only thing that'll get rid of it is by trying something like a laser treatment. I'm now looking into options so if anyone has tried something similar to get rid of some bad scarring let me know. In the mean time I've been relying on opaque tights, makeup or I just crop out or cross my legs in photos (as I have done here) to hide the scarring.

Style | H&M Khaki Trousers

I feel like I haven't done a fashion posts in forever but I've actually been so excited about Spring I'm hoping to do more fashion posts in the next few weeks. I miss the layering that comes with Winter, but my style has always been so simple that I end up just throwing on a few things before heading out the door. This is definitely one of those outfits and it's ridiculously comfortable too.

I've managed to reign in my spending a lot over the last few months and instead I've been reaching for lots of pieces that have been neglected in my wardrobe for a while. I fell in love with these khaki trousers from H&M when I saw them at the end of last summer, but I've never worn them until now. It's a bad habit of mine to have drawers filled with clothes with the tags still on so I'm trying to slowly change that. Speaking of unworn purchases, I might as well fess up to the fact that these shoes have only made it out of the house twice too. Now we're no longer in winter and there's no risk of my exposed toes getting frostbite I'll definitely be strolling around in these shoes more often.

New In | Black & Gold Accessories

This season I've loved having an excuse to wear a lot of black. In fact the other day I was dressed exclusively head-to-toe in black. Bright colour has never really been my 'thing' and though it may seem a little drab to draped in such sombre tones, I usually look for items with some kind of detailing, trim or texture to make it more visually exciting. My wardrobe is brimming with black and gold accessories as a result, so maybe it's not surprising then that the newest additions to my collection have been following the same colour combo.

Shoes - | Bag - | Necklaces - | Purse -

The Topshop arm candy (£40) was a present from my boyfriend at Christmas. After favouring a giant H&M grey handbag for the past few months (seen ), it's been nice to downsize and not carry every item known to man around in my bag everyday. This version with the gold detailing is currently sold out online, but they have a very similar rose gold version still available. I bought the River Island Purse (£17) separately, but oddly the texture surrounding the back of the purse matches my bag perfectly. I'm not usually a fan of snake skin, but the contrasting textures and the chevron pattern on the front is a nice touch.

I've not been wearing flat shoes a lot lately instead opting for chunky platform or heeled boots, but it's been good to give my feet a break now and again. These double strap 'almond toe' shoes (£10) from Primark are a cute basic, comfy (now I've broken them in) and easy to slip on to complete a relaxed outfit.

Every aspect of my style is simplistic and minimal, including jewellery. I have a penchant for dainty necklaces and these two gold pieces (roughly £3 each) are from Forever 21. The store has an overwhelming array of glittering chains, bracelets and earrings so it's hard for me to ever stick to just a few purchases when frequenting the accessory department (which is why shamefully my trinket boxes are filled with fashion jewellery).

What kind of accessories do you like?

What I Wore | Missguided Skort

I recently bought a sewing machine to make a few minor alterations to some clothes gathering dust in my wardrobe including this emerald green skort from .

I've always felt a little luke warm about the skort (shorts that look like a skirt at the front) but took the plunge and I bought this one almost a year ago. The problem was this skort was way too big around my waist but I figured I could make it work anyway. I was so wrong. The skort sat perfectly on my hips but something just looked off. As a result this skort got lost with all the other clothes that could do with a little needlework.

I'm pretty rusty with a sewing machine (it's been 10 years since I last used one) but I managed to nip this beauty in at the waist, giving my skort a new lease of life. I'm a lot more excited to wear my skort now and it'll be interesting to mix it up with my autumn/winter pieces.

Today I wore my skort with a thick knit and loose white shirt for a casual look. I kept my accessories minimal (as usual) opting for a tan belt and a new Olivia Burton watch.

What I Wore | ASOS Black Floral Shorts

This is another outfit from my trip to Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago (previous ). The temperature has dropped recently and sadly I've already gone back to wearing jeans and jumper combos!

I always say my style is minimalist but having barely any room in my cabin bag to fit many clothes meant I really had to strip down to the bare essentials when I went away. All of the outfits I took to Scotland had to be easy to wear and this Forever 21 blouse goes with virtually everything. I ended up pairing it with these ASOS floral shorts which are an old purchase. The shorts are part of a cute  (now in the ASOS sale section) and I wish I snapped up the top too when I had the chance but my wardrobe contains so much black, white and grey I knew these shorts would work with most of what I had already. If the temperature doesn't drop too much more I'm definitely going to have a break from living in my jeans and try mixing up these shorts with some other pieces in my wardrobe.

What I Wore | Pink Zara Skirt

I had so many photos from Saturday's outing to (AFWL) I decided to post the details of my outfit separately. I knew I wanted to wear some colour to the event but I stayed true to my personal style - simple and understated.

I finally donned a skirt which has been hiding in my wardrobe since I bought it from a couple of months ago. I love it but I haven't had an excuse to wear it until now. Considering this skirt is 'scuba' material, bright pink and really hugs my figure, it's actually quite flattering. I thought about pairing it with so many other different tops but eventually I settled on this crisp white shirt with sheer panel from .

My shoes are a new buy from the sale and I got so many compliments on them. Initially I was unsure about purchasing 'mule heels' as I didn't think they'd fit with my personal style but I was so wrong! I love anything that's easy to throw on and I always prefer to be comfortable and fashionable (if possible). These shoes are so chic and really beautiful in person. I found these heels surprisingly comfortable even though I was walking around in them for most of the day!

What I Wore | Forever 21 Dress

I packed last minute for a weekend at my boyfriends and all I remembered to grab to wear the next day was this dress and sunglasses.

I've really missed wearing summer dresses as I've been living in high-waisted jeans and t-shirts lately (totally obsessed with my Topshop Joni pair). I’d like to wear dresses more but I barely have any, probably because I’m really fussy when it comes to buying them. Annoyingly a lot of dresses from my favourite high-street stores seem to come up quite short on me. I'm only 5'6" but I must have disproportionately long legs! I really love the pattern and halter neck on this Forever 21 dress, and though I would prefer it was a teensy bit longer I decided to buy it anyway.

It was such a lovely weekend this dress was perfect for exploring the gardens of an Estate in Essex. I was wearing it with a slouchy cream blazer but I really didn't need it with the heat so took it off instantly.

I'm definitely going to add a few more summer dresses to my wardrobe soon!
