FOTD | Pink Spring Makeup Look

Simple makeup looks are my go-to currently. My skin has been really dry for no apparent reason so the less makeup on my face the better. Luckily having a fringe (bangs) means I can cheat and only have to put makeup on a small area of my face!

I love the matte lip look which can be achieved from just relying on a lip pencil for my lip colour and that's what I'm wearing here. I had a really gorgeous nude lip pencil from KIKO which I can't find anywhere so I picked up this Sleek Makeup Lip Pencil in Bare Essential as a replacement. I wasn't expecting much as it was only £1.99 but it's the perfect nude and is really similar to my natural lip colour. The pigmentation is minimal and the formula is a little dry (as it's a lip liner), but it's nothing a few coats and a bit of lip balm can't fix.

For the rest of my makeup I stuck to pink blush which I rarely wear and a dusky brown for my lids. I've definitely been swept up with the excitement of Spring which has led to me wearing a few more bright colours than usual.

FOTN | Red Lips & Winged Liner

I've been wearing the same red lip and black eye liner combo for years. This is always my go-to look when going out and it may not be very adventurous, but it suits such a range of occasions I rarely stray from it.

I tend to prefer darker red lipsticks over orange-y or pink-red tones and this shade is from the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche collection. I don't own a lot of L'Oreal Paris makeup, but I've increasingly picked up more and more Color Riche shades as there's a great range of colours to suit different skintones.

I usually prefer bronzed cheeks with red lips but I was kind of in auto-pilot mode when doing my makeup and applied this everyday coral GOSH blush from my bronzing pie without thinking. This blush is super pigmented so I just went with it but I don't mind the result.

FOTD | Valentines Soft Pink Makeup

Valentine's Day for me isn't usually a huge affair. Most times it's low-key, whether it's a night out with the girls or a quiet dinner out with the boyfriend. That said, in general I tend to switch up my makeup. In my eagerness for Spring to start I've been reaching for all things pink recently and as a result I've decided not to opt for a classic red lip this Valentines in favour of a rosy hue.

I don't know what it is about pink lipsticks but my makeup collection is littered with them. It is without doubt my favourite shade to wear but weirdly my lip colour in this makeup look was achieved from mixing two non-pink tones together - a nude and a glossy red. The resulting soft creamy pink colour was discovered by accident. I previously tried to make my nude Sleek Makeup lipstick look well, less nude, so in a hurry swiped one of my KIKO Glossy Stylos straight over the top. I love the result and now it's one of my favourite combos to wear on my lips.

I thought V-Day would also be another excuse to reach for my which has been a little neglected of late. Generally if I wear eyeshadow it's usually neutral or natural colours but I love the soft feminine looks you can get with only a little pink added to the lids. For my eyes I used the matte dusky pinks in the palette as a base - Limit and Nooner - then swiped a little of Liar to add a little shimmer at the inner corners of my eyes. I finished with winged out liner for a cat eye effect and lashings of mascara.

A tiny sidenote but just incase you're wondering about my hair in these shots, though I've been itching to cut my hair short for the past year I'm wearing a wig here. I bought it to give my hair a break and to stop myself drastically cutting my hair. I was planning to wear this wig on Valentine's Day but I haven't worn it out of the house yet. I haven't really changed my hair in a long time so I think I've been worried too much about what friends, family and colleagues will think about me suddenly rocking a wig. I'm also so clueless on how to style my mass of hair underneath (which won't lye flat), how to get a natural looking part and all that jazz. I'm hoping YouTube will help me figure it all out eventually.

Review | GOSH Multi Colour Blush Bronzing Pie

I've been on the hunt for a new blusher for a while and I ended up purchasing this GOSH Multi Colour Blush Bronzing Pie in Bronze (£7.99) a few weeks back. I don't own many GOSH products but I fell in love with their  giving me high hopes for their other products.

The best thing about this product the pigmentation. I have to be careful not to pick up too much product as the colour comes out so well on my skintone. I tend to swirl my blush brush around the pan lightly and sweep this across my cheeks 1-2 times to get the result seen below. Despite the light application, this blusher is one of the few areas of my makeup that lasts until the end of the day.

I tend to favour multi-use products so this bronzing pie was the perfect choice for me. I love peachy or amber tones for my checks so I mostly pick up those shades from the pan, however I like that there's a range of shades and a highlighter included in the compact should I want to switch it up or add a subtle glow to my complexion. This makes the product a great all-rounder for on-the-go application and I try to carry this around with me when I can fit it in my makeup bag (I tend to stuff a lot of items into my makeup bag as you can see from  post). The only thing that would make this product better is if it had a mirror inside the compact.

Overall it's a great little product for the price and it's definitely convinced me to try a few more products from the brand GOSH (which is sold exclusively by in the UK). I've got my eye on their liquid liner next.

FOTD | The Bright Lip

I haven't done a makeup look in a long time and that's because I rarely change my makeup routine. I usually apply a different lipstick and that's about it. Most of the lipsticks I own are pretty safe tones ranging from pink to brown but I do have a few which push me out of my comfort zone, like the lipstick I'm wearing here. I bought this Barry M Lip Paint (151) quite some time ago but I've barely worn it probably as I've never felt like I could pull this look off.

That said, this lipstick is the perfect stand-out lip for summer but as it is so bright I kept the rest of my makeup very simple here. I applied a small amount of foundation to my skin and used a little NC42 concealer from MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Medium Deep for dark spots on my face. I then used the burnt coral shade from the MAC palette on the apples of my cheeks. I followed my usual routine for my brows and set them in place with a little Gimme Brow. I kept makeup on my eyes minimal, opting for just a little Thick & Fast mascara. I wanted a slight glow so highlighted my face with the brightest shade from Sleek Makeup Glo. I finished off by dusting some Ben Nye Banana Powder on my T-zone.

Review | GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick in Boheme

I've always been intrigued by the makeup stands at my local and the current 'Buy 1 get 2nd 1/2 price' offer peaked my interest in the brand. I bought a couple of items by GOSH but it's this Velvet Touch Lipstick in Boheme (£6.49) that I've fallen in love with.

I'm not short of purple-toned lipsticks, and honestly I meant to by something brighter and more 'on trend' but the colour was so beautiful I couldn't pass on it. It's a gorgeous bright plum which is so flattering on the skin. My wardrobe is still lacking some colourful pieces as I bought way too much grey and black clothing last year and this lipstick helps liven up my outfits. I was wearing this lipstick in my last post here.

I love the creamy formula which allows me to skip prepping my lips with balm before application. I'm seriously impressed with the colour pay-off too. This lipstick lasts so well throughout the day and barely have to do touch ups. For the price I think it's a total steal and I'd definitely look at purchasing more GOSH lipsticks though I really don't need any!
