New In | NYX & KIKO Makeup

I've been taking a pretty minimalist approach to shopping recently but with a KIKO gift voucher from friends to spend and NYX cosmetics available from more retail outlets in the UK, I couldn't not acquire a few new beauty items.

My favourites of the items here are the two (£5.50 each) purchased from . I've heard good things about these and there's 21 different colours to choose from. Cannes and Prague appealed the most to me and are a good fit for my medium skintone. Cannes is a beautiful soft mauve and Prague is a bright berry shade. Both have a velvety finish which is matte but not too drying. I usually prefer to wear balm underneath matte products but I've found without balm the formula of these lip creams stays on better.

From KIKO I picked up a few more lip products - two (£3.90 each) in Mauve (915) and Rosewood (913) and a (£2.50) in Rosewood (703). I realised afterwards that I bought shades which were similar to the NYX products. I have a really bad habit of accidentally purchasing several products in similar or the same colours! I love these too though as they're easy to wear and the silky smooth finish of the lipsticks are so pretty.

Also from KIKO I got the (£8.90), a gel-like cream which claims to absorb sebum. I've tried a lot of primers on my naturally oily skin and none have really had a truly long-lasting effect. I love this product so far as it instantly removes shine and preps it perfectly to make my foundation last longer than usual.

Lastly I got the (£10.90). This product contains 3 colours which you can use alone or you can blend them together. The compact is perfect for my handbag as it snaps shut (and stays shut) magnetically and it's fairly small.

Overall I'm pretty happy with all of the items here and they're already featuring in most of my makeup looks.

What beauty items have you been using lately?

Haul | Black Friday Missguided Buys

This year on 28th November was the first that 'Black Friday' really had an impact in the UK. Shops everywhere were discounting stock and I was inundated with emails from places I'd forgotten I'd even subscribed to. The bulk of my purchases were from who dropped several deals over 'Black Friday weekend'. I didn't go too crazy with my purchases as I haven't ordered much from Missguided before but I love everything I bought which has slotted into my current wardrobe perfectly.

Dorothie Floral Print Cigarette Trousers (£24.99 £5)
These trousers are so well put together which I wasn't expecting as the photo on the website doesn't do it justice. I would totally pay full price for these and I feel a little like I've robbed Missguided of these by only getting them for a fiver. I've got a slouchy cream jumper that I love wearing these with and I often opt for these black brogues for a more casual look.

Alison Floral Racer Bodycon Dress (£9.99 £5)
I've been hoarding bodycons this season which is a welcome change from wearing swing and shift dresses. I love the floral pattern on this one. The racer style top makes hiding my bra straps a little awkward but I recently got a very simple but neat tool to tuck my bra straps in which  talks about in her video .

Beatrina Contrast Collar Playsuit (£24.99 £5)
I'm in love with tailored pieces and anything monochrome so this playsuit is perfect for me. I found my size of this particular playsuit quite restrictive (length wise) so I opted for a bigger size this time which is the slightest bit too big. It's not noticeable when I accessorise this playsuit with a belt but I may have to give it a little nip and tuck with my sewing machine.

Kimberley Waterfall Coat (£59.99 £35)
I had to spend so long refreshing my internet browser to get this coat as the website kept crashing, presumably as all coats dropped to half price on Black Friday. It feels very luxurious and this coat has been keeping me warm on those icy cold days. I've mostly been pairing this coat with midi dresses and heeled boots but much to my surprise it seems to go with everything.

Carly Crepe Check Playsuit (£24.99 £5)
I've been eyeing up this playsuit for some time and I couldn't quite believe it was going so cheap which is why I snapped it up pretty sharpish. It's too cold now to wear this bare-legged so black tights, the cosy knit I'm wearing here and the lace-up platform boots I'm wearing in this old OOTD are my go-to items to make this item work for this season.
