Style | In transition

It's not quite layering season just yet and (if you hadn't guessed already) any situation including sun is my ideal. I've been soaking up every minute of the warm Autumn air and trying to be outdoors as much as possible as I know when Winter rolls around I'll be in hibernation mode. Today's look is typical roaming attire - tee, bottoms and sneakers but with a slight nod to the season we're in with AW17 all the about the heritage check. Expect more posts featuring 'Prince of Wales' (Glen Plaid) pieces soon - I love to wear these patterns this time of year.

Style | Borrowing from the boys

I have a habit of buying men's shirts and jackets lately. It stems from a few years of pinching my boyfriend's clothes, much to his annoyance. I just love the simplicity of menswear and a boxy cosy fit. I spied men's yellow denim jacket recently on ASOS and the colour made me 'add to basket' real quick. I bought it in a small and it's still pretty huge as the fit is oversized but I'm in love with it and it definitely ticks the comfortable box!

I know us Brits always go on about the weather constantly but you can't blame us really. It's actually been warm enough in Manchester to brave bare legs again which has gotten me so excited for Summer. I love how uncomplicated style can be in the warmer months (as the city gets so humid and you can't wear more than a few pieces without overheating). I paired the jacket with a crop top and black denim skirt here as I still wanted to still keep the look feminine and Vans because they seem to go with everything!

Style | New Look 70s Style Maxi Dress

Having sun in Manchester always causes me chaos with with figuring out what to wear as most of my wardrobe accommodates windy, rainy weather. I've loved being able to wear maxis and sandals recently and this split side 70s style dress from is one of my favourites. I love the pattern which works surprisingly well with a number of pieces I have like this off-white blazer from  and  handbag.

Admittedly as I write this it's muggy but raining and cloudy outside. I ran a few errands earlier in a hooded jacket and all black converse which have seen better days, but I'm hoping to do more outfit posts soon which feature more of my British Summer style.

Style | Forever 21 Blazer & Missguided Playsuit

It's rare that I actually spend time exploring Manchester, which is a shame as I don't live too far from the centre. Recently a really good friend of mine left Manchester to return to her home in Australia. In her short 2 years staying in Manchester she has seen far more than I have my twenty-something years of living here. There's so much to do and I want to make more time to see Manchester. In that same vein, me and my other half did the tourist-y thing and visited , an 87-storey skyscraper in Southwark recently. The views are gorgeous and it was good to gaze at the sights I don't see enough of.

I didn't plan to make a blog post out of my visit, so this is an impromptu outfit post. I've been wearing this Forever 21 Boyfriend Blazer a lot recently as it's so comfy and the playsuit is a Missguided favourite I haven't worn since November. It's a little short on me, but I love the floral detail and white collar so I'm going to make a point of wearing it a lot more this summer.

Style | New Look Sleeveless High Neck Midi Dress

I've wanted a high neck dress for a while so I finally caved and bought one a few weeks back in the New Look sale (I couldn't not at just £8). I've paired it with a few of the usual suspects here - this houndstooth scarf and floppy hat have seen so much wear lately. I also wore this slouchy camel blazer from Forever 21 which had previously been forgotten under a pile of woollen Winter coats. It's still cold in the UK currently but I've been mixing my Winter and Spring items together in an attempt to be practical and fashionable. Needless to say I can't wait for the warmth of Summer, especially as my arms and legs haven't seen much daylight in the past year!

Whilst we're on the subject of my legs, I got a cluster of insect bites on the lower part of my left leg last summer which became infected leaving various nasty dark pits and scarring. My skin has always been prone to hyper pigmentation and scarring, but I've never had it this severe. I can also usually fade my scars with a little regular exfoliation (which is minimal effort on my part). This scarring however hasn't budged at all and I think the only thing that'll get rid of it is by trying something like a laser treatment. I'm now looking into options so if anyone has tried something similar to get rid of some bad scarring let me know. In the mean time I've been relying on opaque tights, makeup or I just crop out or cross my legs in photos (as I have done here) to hide the scarring.

What I Wore | Forever 21 Dress

I packed last minute for a weekend at my boyfriends and all I remembered to grab to wear the next day was this dress and sunglasses.

I've really missed wearing summer dresses as I've been living in high-waisted jeans and t-shirts lately (totally obsessed with my Topshop Joni pair). I’d like to wear dresses more but I barely have any, probably because I’m really fussy when it comes to buying them. Annoyingly a lot of dresses from my favourite high-street stores seem to come up quite short on me. I'm only 5'6" but I must have disproportionately long legs! I really love the pattern and halter neck on this Forever 21 dress, and though I would prefer it was a teensy bit longer I decided to buy it anyway.

It was such a lovely weekend this dress was perfect for exploring the gardens of an Estate in Essex. I was wearing it with a slouchy cream blazer but I really didn't need it with the heat so took it off instantly.

I'm definitely going to add a few more summer dresses to my wardrobe soon!
