Most used | Blushers & Bronzers

I can scarcely remember a time when I didn't apply blusher. My skin looks so flat and dull without it that I rely on this beauty product daily. I downsized my makeup collection massively this year in an attempt to generally declutter. The process involved a critical look at the items I reached for over and over. These blushers are my most used and loved.

in Sahara (£4.99)
I love Sleek Makeup blushers as they're well-priced, pigmented and there's shades to suit a variety of skintones. I have a few shades of their blush but Sahara, a beautiful matte burnt-orange ideal for medium and darker skin, is my favourite. I only need to gently swirl my brush in this compact and sweep over the face for the perfect flush of colour. The compact is small so I often carry this around with me and a major plus is that I've dropped it more times than I can count without it shattering.

in Abricot (£10.90)
KIKO also produces gorgeous high quality products at a low cost. This compact is slightly smaller and pricier than the Sleek Makeup blusher but it definitely makes up for it with the luxe-looking packaging. It has a magnetic closure too which is a great feature. I tend to wear the colours in this compact mixed together which creates a deep coral tone. The formula blends well and adds a subtle pop of colour.

in Blonde (£5.99)
I never expected to love this bronzer as I actually picked up the wrong shade by mistake. It's not pigmented enough for my skintone when swatched (bonus points if you can actually spot the swatches on my hand) which had me doubting whether I should include it in this post. I felt I had to, as it's the most used product out of the 3 featured here, I just have to swirl my brush around in this compact a lot to pick up the colour. I tend to stick to the darker side and once it's on my cheeks the result is so gorgeous. My skin looks sunkissed without being overly shimmery or muddy looking and I can layer it with a blush if I want colour. It is a great budget buy for anyone with fair to light skin and I'd definitely buy it again, though next time I'll pick up the shade that's more suited to my skintone.

FOTD | Pink Spring Makeup Look

Simple makeup looks are my go-to currently. My skin has been really dry for no apparent reason so the less makeup on my face the better. Luckily having a fringe (bangs) means I can cheat and only have to put makeup on a small area of my face!

I love the matte lip look which can be achieved from just relying on a lip pencil for my lip colour and that's what I'm wearing here. I had a really gorgeous nude lip pencil from KIKO which I can't find anywhere so I picked up this Sleek Makeup Lip Pencil in Bare Essential as a replacement. I wasn't expecting much as it was only £1.99 but it's the perfect nude and is really similar to my natural lip colour. The pigmentation is minimal and the formula is a little dry (as it's a lip liner), but it's nothing a few coats and a bit of lip balm can't fix.

For the rest of my makeup I stuck to pink blush which I rarely wear and a dusky brown for my lids. I've definitely been swept up with the excitement of Spring which has led to me wearing a few more bright colours than usual.

FOTN | Red Lips & Winged Liner

I've been wearing the same red lip and black eye liner combo for years. This is always my go-to look when going out and it may not be very adventurous, but it suits such a range of occasions I rarely stray from it.

I tend to prefer darker red lipsticks over orange-y or pink-red tones and this shade is from the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche collection. I don't own a lot of L'Oreal Paris makeup, but I've increasingly picked up more and more Color Riche shades as there's a great range of colours to suit different skintones.

I usually prefer bronzed cheeks with red lips but I was kind of in auto-pilot mode when doing my makeup and applied this everyday coral GOSH blush from my bronzing pie without thinking. This blush is super pigmented so I just went with it but I don't mind the result.

FOTD | Valentines Soft Pink Makeup

Valentine's Day for me isn't usually a huge affair. Most times it's low-key, whether it's a night out with the girls or a quiet dinner out with the boyfriend. That said, in general I tend to switch up my makeup. In my eagerness for Spring to start I've been reaching for all things pink recently and as a result I've decided not to opt for a classic red lip this Valentines in favour of a rosy hue.

I don't know what it is about pink lipsticks but my makeup collection is littered with them. It is without doubt my favourite shade to wear but weirdly my lip colour in this makeup look was achieved from mixing two non-pink tones together - a nude and a glossy red. The resulting soft creamy pink colour was discovered by accident. I previously tried to make my nude Sleek Makeup lipstick look well, less nude, so in a hurry swiped one of my KIKO Glossy Stylos straight over the top. I love the result and now it's one of my favourite combos to wear on my lips.

I thought V-Day would also be another excuse to reach for my which has been a little neglected of late. Generally if I wear eyeshadow it's usually neutral or natural colours but I love the soft feminine looks you can get with only a little pink added to the lids. For my eyes I used the matte dusky pinks in the palette as a base - Limit and Nooner - then swiped a little of Liar to add a little shimmer at the inner corners of my eyes. I finished with winged out liner for a cat eye effect and lashings of mascara.

A tiny sidenote but just incase you're wondering about my hair in these shots, though I've been itching to cut my hair short for the past year I'm wearing a wig here. I bought it to give my hair a break and to stop myself drastically cutting my hair. I was planning to wear this wig on Valentine's Day but I haven't worn it out of the house yet. I haven't really changed my hair in a long time so I think I've been worried too much about what friends, family and colleagues will think about me suddenly rocking a wig. I'm also so clueless on how to style my mass of hair underneath (which won't lye flat), how to get a natural looking part and all that jazz. I'm hoping YouTube will help me figure it all out eventually.

Review | Sleek MakeUp True Colour Lipstick

I've been doing a little spring cleaning of late, both with my blog and in my home. Whilst clearing out my makeup I came across this old gem - Sleek MakeUp (£4.99) which I reviewed way back in 2013 when I first starting writing beauty posts. I've deleted all of the older posts on this blog which I wasn't entirely happy with but the perfectionist in me wanted to rewrite this post as this lipstick was an old favourite.

When I first bought this shade almost all of the lipsticks I owned were of the nude or pale pink variety so this was a shade I'd reach for when I was feeling more daring. I've been experimenting more in the past couple of years with brighter and bolder shades and subsequently I forgot what a beautiful dark lipstick this is.

The name 'Vamp' couldn't be more fitting. It's a rich burgundy in colour which draws attention to my lips without overpowering the rest of my makeup. The formula is matte so it can be a bit drying. I usually remedy this by wearing a good lip balm underneath and I avoid wearing this lipstick if my lips are chapped or dry. This lipstick requires a few touch-ups throughout the day but it's such a gorgeous colour I can forgive this.

FOTN | New Years Eve Makeup Look

New Year's Eve is almost here and, scarily, 2015 is just around the corner. My New Year's Eve is going to be pretty low-key but I plan to add a little glamour with my makeup. I got the Smashbox On The Rocks Palette (£29) for Christmas - it's a limited edition palette with 12 of their Photo Op Eye Shadows.

I've loved wearing a lot of green hues this season so naturally I was drawn towards the 'Midnight Emerald' shade from this palette and it's the main feature of this look. Green can seem like a scary shade to wear but I think it can suit such a wide variety of skintones and it works so beautifully with brown eyes. Applying eyeshadow is not my forte so I stuck to keeping it simple so this look is easy to duplicate. I kept the rest of my makeup muted, opting for a nude (ish) brown lipstick which only softly veils my natural lip colour. I then dabbed some brown shimmery gloss over the top to add a little more glitter.
